Confirm cotton, polyester, blended or recycled content together with knit structure, fabric weight, hand feel and shrinkage requirements.
Fit and Size Grading
Approve the base size, chest, length, shoulder, sleeve and tolerance table before grading the full size range.

Logo Placement
Left chest, full front, back, sleeve, neck and hem placements are matched to the method, artwork detail and garment construction.
Construction and Trims
Specify neck rib, placket, piping, thread, buttons, zippers, side vents, reinforcement and other functional details.
Labels and Packaging
Heat-transfer neck labels, woven labels, care labels, hangtags, size stickers, individual bags, belly bands and gift-set kitting.
Choose the decoration
Screen Printing, DTF, DTG, Embroidery or Sublimation
The right method depends on fabric, artwork, quantity, hand feel, wash performance and the location of the logo.
| Logo method | Best fit | Main advantage | Watch point | Relative cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Screen printing | Cotton and blends; medium to large runs | Strong spot colors and efficient bulk cost | Each color needs a screen; gradients need separation | Low at volume |
| DTF transfer | Mixed fabrics and detailed full-color logos | Flexible artwork and lower setup | Transfer hand feel and curing must be controlled | Low to medium |
| DTG printing | Cotton-rich tees and complex artwork | Soft detailed print without color-by-color screens | Pre-treatment and fabric consistency affect the result | Medium |
| Embroidery | Polos, uniforms and premium chest logos | Textured, durable and professional | Small text, stitch count and puckering need review | Medium to high |
| Sublimation | Light polyester and full-panel sportswear | Permanent all-over color with no surface layer | Not suitable for dark cotton garments | Medium |
Artwork guidance: confirm artwork size for each garment size, minimum text and line detail, color references, underbase requirements and whether the logo crosses seams, plackets or mesh panels. A print method that looks good on a flat sample may behave differently after washing or stretching.
Plan the order
MOQ, Samples and Production Timing
Separate stock garments with logo decoration from custom fabric, cut-and-sew construction and private-label development.
| Production route | Indicative starting point | Typical scope | Main MOQ driver |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stock T-shirt + logo | 100+ pieces on selected styles | Existing garment, stock color, standard logo and packing | Available size/color inventory and decoration setup |
| Stock polo or jersey + logo | 100-300+ pieces | Embroidery, print, names, numbers or standard trims | Garment stock, stitch count and personalization |
| Custom cut-and-sew T-shirt | 500+ pieces per style/color | Fabric, fit, construction, labels and packaging | Fabric minimum, dyeing, cutting and size assortment |
| Custom sportswear / sublimation | 300-500+ pieces | Panel artwork, team details and performance fabrics | Fabric booking, artwork panels and size grading |
| Private-label apparel range | Confirmed by style and material | Multiple garments, trims, retail labels and repeat specs | Fabric and trim minimums across the range |
Digital mockup
Review logo position, scale, garment color and the initial visual direction.
Decorated stock sample
Check the selected blank, actual logo method, color and basic wash behavior.
Pre-production sample
Confirm fabric, fit, measurement table, construction, labels and packaging before bulk.
Stock + standard logo
Working range after garment availability, artwork and decoration are confirmed.
Custom cut-and-sew
Working range after material and pre-production sample approval.
Larger or complex runs
Allow more time for custom dyeing, all-over artwork, special trims or busy capacity.
Planning note: these are quotation ranges, not automatic promises. The approved material, size breakdown, logo method, sample status, factory capacity and packing specification determine the final MOQ and schedule.
Three ways to build
Choose the Right Apparel Production Route
The efficient route depends on quantity, timeline, fit control and how much ownership the brand needs over the garment.
Brand a proven stock garment
Select an existing T-shirt or polo, then confirm the color, size mix, logo and standard packing.
Best for: Events, campaigns and faster employee programs.
Customize fit and construction
Define fabric, GSM, measurements, trims, print, labels and packaging around the wearer.
Best for: Uniforms, teams and recurring brand programs.
Develop a private-label range
Create repeatable styles with graded size specs, label systems, retail packaging and inspection criteria.
Best for: Retail, distributors and owned merchandise.
How orders work
From Brief to Global Delivery
Brief
Share the garment, quantity, size range, logo, budget, destination and required date.
Specification
Confirm fabric, GSM, fit, measurements, construction, decoration, labels and packing.
Quote and Mockup
Review suitable stock or OEM routes, cost factors and artwork placement.
Sample Approval
Approve the garment, logo result, measurements and agreed pre-production details.
Production and QC
Monitor material, cutting, decoration and sewing, then inspect measurable checkpoints.
Pack and Ship
Confirm size assortment, labels, cartons and delivery or multi-product consolidation.
Inspection evidence
Apparel Quality Control Beyond a Visual Check
A shipment can pass sampled workmanship and still fail because measurements, quantity, approval references or packing do not match the order.
Workmanship
Sampled garments are classified by critical, major and minor defects against an agreed inspection level.
Measurements
Chest, length, shoulder, sleeve and other points are checked by size against the approved tolerance table.
Fabric weight
One inspected sample recorded two fabric-weight readings, showing why actual GSM should be measured rather than assumed.
Color performance
Dry/wet rubbing, washing and color-bleeding checks can be included when they match the material and program.
Labels and packing
Size assortment, barcode, markings, carton data, protection and drop-test requirements are separate checkpoints.
Real inspection lesson: one supplied third-party pre-shipment report sampled 80 garments from 22 cartons. It found 0 critical, 4 major and 4 minor workmanship defects, but the overall shipment was still marked not conforming because size, quantity, approval-sample and packing issues remained. The exact sampling level and test list must be agreed for each order; this example is not a universal pass certificate or a chemical laboratory report.
Real production views
Textile Cutting, Sewing, Embroidery and QC in Practice
Factory-floor evidence helps buyers understand the shared textile processes behind custom promotional apparel, from fabric preparation to decoration and inspection.
These real images are from a custom cap factory in our promotional-textile network and show processes also relevant to apparel, including fabric preparation, cutting, sewing, embroidery and in-process inspection. The actual T-shirt supplier, equipment, sample and production route are confirmed for each order.
Choose by use case
Branded T-Shirts for Events, Teams and Retail
The same artwork should not be specified the same way for a one-day event, a staff uniform and a retail product.
Trade Shows and Campaigns
Stock cotton or blended tees with a controlled front or back print keep the timeline and cost predictable.
Employee and Staff Programs
Polos and durable T-shirts need repeatable sizes, wash performance and clear reorder specifications.
Sports and Teamwear
Quick-dry fabrics, mesh zones, names, numbers and all-over color require panel-level artwork approval.
Retail and Private Label
Fabric hand feel, fit, neck labels, hangtags and packing become part of the customer experience.
Charity and Community Events
Size assortment, logo clarity and efficient distribution matter more than unnecessary construction complexity.
Onboarding and Gift Sets
Folded apparel can be combined with notebooks, bottles, bags and inserts through kitting and consolidation.

Buyer questions
Custom Promotional T-Shirt FAQs
Final answers are confirmed against the garment, fabric, quantity, decoration and delivery plan.
What is the MOQ for custom promotional T-shirts?
Selected stock garments with a standard logo can start around 100 pieces. Custom cut-and-sew programs commonly start around 500 pieces per style and color, while fabric dyeing, special trims and private-label ranges may require higher material minimums.
What is the difference between stock T-shirts and full OEM production?
A stock program uses an existing garment and adds printing or embroidery. Full OEM defines the fabric, GSM, fit, size grading, construction, labels and packaging. Stock is faster; OEM provides more brand control.
How long does T-shirt sampling and production take?
A digital mockup is usually available within one business day. A decorated stock sample commonly takes 5-7 days, and a cut-and-sew pre-production sample about 7-14 days. Bulk timing is confirmed after the sample, material and size breakdown are approved.
Which fabric weight should I choose?
There is no single best GSM. Lightweight fabric suits mass events and warm climates, while heavier cotton gives more structure and perceived value. Confirm composition, knit, GSM, opacity, shrinkage and hand feel together rather than choosing by weight alone.
Which logo method is best for T-shirts?
Screen printing is efficient for spot colors at volume, DTF handles flexible full-color artwork, DTG suits detailed cotton prints, embroidery works well on polos and uniforms, and sublimation is best for light polyester and all-over sportswear.
How are size tolerances controlled?
The approved measurement table should define each point of measure, grading and tolerance. Inspection samples multiple pieces by size because a garment can look acceptable while chest, length, shoulder or sleeve measurements are outside tolerance.
Can you add private labels and retail packaging?
Yes. Options include heat-transfer neck labels, woven labels, care labels, hangtags, size stickers, individual bags, belly bands, inserts and coordinated gift-set packaging.
Which quality checks can be included before shipment?
The plan can cover count, AQL workmanship, measurements, fabric weight, color, rubbing or washing, seam strength, logo position, labels, barcode, packing and carton checks. The exact tests and sampling level are agreed against the order risk.
Can you provide recycled or certified fabrics?
Potential GRS, OEKO-TEX or other documentation must be checked against the actual supplier, fabric and certificate scope. We do not treat a general factory certificate as proof for every material or shipment.
Can T-shirts be packed with other promotional gifts and delivered DDP?
Yes. We can coordinate T-shirts with bags, notebooks, pens or drinkware, then kit, consolidate and arrange international delivery. DDP availability is confirmed from the destination, product details and current route.
